We have been appointed as the main contractor by St Albans District Council to deliver 24 affordable homes for the over 50s at Wavell House.

The building, which has been designed for independent living, provides a mixture of 1 & 2 bed apartments along with two stair cores at either end. Once complete, Wavell House will be complemented by a private communal garden situated on the south side of the building.

Mark Doyle, CEO of Jarvis Group Construction, said “We are delighted to have been awarded Wavell House, which will generate some much-needed housing in St Albans, and we are looking forward to working with the Council on this exciting project. As a local employer with over 200 staff, many who live in the surrounding area, this project will not only meet a local need, but will represent local jobs for local people”.

Karen Dragovic, Head of Housing for St Albans City and District Council, said: “I am delighted we have appointed a contractor and can now complete this project to create more homes for social rent in the City.

We secured a substantial grant from Homes England earlier this year which has allowed us to go ahead with the redevelopment. I think this work shows we are committed to meeting the demand from our community for affordable homes.”

Demolition works have already been undertaken on the site, with construction due to commence in January 2019.
